Austria: Round 3 is over! First win for Weiz, Aich/Dob and Amstetten ko. Hypo Tirol and Graz to the top!
3 min read
After the advance played yesterday, in which TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg down TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien by 3-1, Round 3 of 2023/24 Powerfusion VL Men has been completed today.
Defending champions HYPO TIROL volleyball team didn’t show major problems in their 3-0 (25:18, 26:24, 25:20) home win against UVC McDonald’s Ried on Saturday evening and continue to lead the table without losing a single set.
The top scorers in the USI-Halle were Luan Weber and Niklas Kronthaler with 13 points each, while Jakub Petras with 17 and Borys Zhukov (7) were the most prolific players for Ried. Interestingly, despite the clear victory, head coach Stefan Chrtiansky is not satisfied and asked for his players to improve their performance in the upcoming games!
Straight sets win also for UVC Holding Graz, who defeated VBK Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt on the road (25:19, 25:20, 26:24) to keep their perfect record of points too, also taking revenge for the defeat in the ÖVV Cup at the beginning of October.
Top scorers in the Lerchenfeldhalle were Simon Frühbauer (15) and David Petschnig (8) for the hosts, and Arwin Kopschar (21 points including 2 aces, 1 block and an impressive 72% in attack) and David Reiter (9) for the winners.
Three points also for a VBC TLC Weiz who achieved their first win of the new season. The Styrians won the duel with VC Amstetten NÖ by 3-1 (25:23, 23:25, 29:27, 25:21).
In what was a very balanced and exciting game, to make the difference were a slightly better performance from the service line (9 aces to 5) and a good Mark Kremer, top scorer of the game with 25 points, 1 block and 50% in attack.
Samuel Jackman scored 23 on the losing side.
In the evening Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel won against runner-up SK Zadruga Aich/Dob by 3-1 (26:24, 25:15, 17:25, 25:22) in front of their home fans.
For Aich/Dob this is a terrible start and, after three games played, they are only at the eighth place on the current standings with only two points!
Top scorers of the day in Zwettl were Krzysztof Gulak and Koendert Daan Streutker with 23 and 20 points, respectively, and Angelos Mandilaris (20) and Kristof Horvath (11) for Aich/Dob.
