Del Monte® Supercoppa 2023: Final is Perugia - Civitanova! Trento and Piacenza ko

Semifinals of the prestigious Italian Del Monte® Supercoppa 2023 were played today at the Biella Forum, setting up an electrifying final between Cucine Lube Civitanova and Sir Susa Vim Perugia.

In the semis, Cucine Lube Civitanova demonstrated their superiority with a 0-3 (22:25, 16:25, 18:25) win over a bad Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza., led by young Alex Nikolov, who shined with a match-high 17 points and an impressive 93% attack efficiency!
About Piacenza, Simon was the most prolific player with 13 points and 82% in attack, but he was the only player in double digit.
All the stats from this clash showed Civitanova’s 65% attack efficiency against Piacenza’s 49%, but the winners were better also in blocking, with 8 points from this element compared to Piacenza’s 2, and in reception (74% positive to 57%, and 44% perfect to 36%).
This commanding victory ensures Civitanova’s presence in the grand finale against Sir Susa Vim Perugia, who earlier defeated Itas Trentino in a four-set thriller, 1-3 (25:20, 22:25, 23:25, 18:25)..
This contest saw an outstanding performance from Perugia’s opposite Wassim Ben Tara, who scored 23 points and ended the game as absolute top scorer (54% in attack, 2 blocks and 1 ace). Double digit also for Oleh Plotnytskyi and Kamil Semeniuk, who also contributed with 15 and 10 points each.
The Block Devils initially struggled in the first set, but they quickly found their groove, dominating the other three, despite Trento had a great game in blocking, scoring 13 points from this element (5 by captain Marko Podrascanin) compared to the winners’ 6.

Both the finalists promise a thrilling showdown for volleyball fans, culminating in the ultimate battle for the Del Monte Supercoppa title, scheduled tomorrow at 5pm local time.
