Round 3 of 2023/24 Marmara Spike League started today with a great game ended after five sets (22:25, 24:26, 26:24, 25:22. 12:15) and an upset.
In fact, a resilient Montpellier, who almost wasted a 0-2 led on the field of titleholders Tours, managed to recover from a dangerous 9-6 in decisive fifth set in which the hosts have always led the game, and closed 12-15 a game that is worth, at least temporarily, waiting for the other games scheduled tomorrow, the second place on paper in the current standings with 5 points behind Chaumont, Paris, Tourcoing and Nantes, all with 6 points.
Probably not the better start for Tours, now with only 3 points in three games played.
Aboubacar Drame Neto’s efforts were not enough. Top scorer with 27 points to his name, he closed the game with 53% in attack, 2 aces and 1 of his team’s 6 winning blocks, against 13 of the rivals.
Luka Marttila put down 23 points for the winners through 56% in attack, 1 block and 2 aces, well supported by Dimitar Dimitrov and Moritz Reichert, who also contributed with 18 and 17 points respectively.
