Round 4 of 2023/24 Marmara Spike League has been entirely played today with all 7 scheduled games.

Not a good start for Nice, who suffered their third defeat in four games, this time at home against a very good Poitiers, too strong for the team coached by Eric Montagnon.
MVP of the match setter Brett Walsh, who allowed all his five players to leave the court in double digit.
Maxime Roatta, the most prolific player, scored 13 points through 77% in attack, closely followed by Metin Toy and Alexandros Raptis with 12 each, and Mathias Elser and Javier Concepcion with 11, the last one with 1 ace, three blocks and 88% in attack! Nice, on the other hand, fought only at the very beginning of the first set and in last one, ended with the minimum gap, 23:25.
Partially it was 17:25, 21:25 and, as already mentioned above, 23:25.

Even worse are doing defending champions Tours, with the same win-loss record: only one victory, and 3 defeats (but 3 points in the standings). The last one today, on the field of a great Toulouse, who celebrated a well-deserved 3-1 (25:15, 25:20, 18:25, 25:23) win in front of more than 1000 home fans.
Julien Winkelmuller, absolute top scorer of the match, had 24 points to his name through an impressive 73% in attack and 2 of his team’s 13 winning blocks. German Florian Krage, about this element, also contributed with 5 block points.

The only team still winless, however, is Narbonne, last in the table with only one point conquered last weekend against newcomers Saint Jean D’Illac. Nothing to do today as, although they fought in first and third sets, both ended with the minimum gap, suffered a 3-0 (25:23, 25:17, 31:29) defeat on the field of Montpellier, despite a third set in which they always kept their nose in front of the rivals.
Dimitor Dimitar and Moritz Reichert were the most prolific players among the winners, scoring 19 and 15 points respectively (65% and 57% in attack), while Filip Kovacevic tallied 15 points for Narbonne (55% in attack, 2 blocks and 1 ace.
With 8 points in the current charts, Montpellier is now alone in fourth place.

In an exciting game ended at tie break and after 2 hours and 33 minutes of play, Nantes Rezé inflicted first defeat to Chaumont , by winning 2-3 (25:21, 22:25, 25:19, 23:25, 15:17) on the field of their opponents. The game was very balanced, and Patrick Indra played a great game for the hosts, leaving the court with 27 points to his name, 58% in attack, 1 ace and 1 block but he wasn’t enough, and the match has been solved only with the 15-17 of the fifth set!
Now both sides are in the second place in the standings, with 10 points each.
To take advantage from this result is Tourcoing, now alone to the top, undefeated, like Nantes, but with 12 points in the standings.
Today they won on the field of newcomers Saint Jean D’Illac with the score of 1-3 (26:28, 32:30, 13:25, 19:25), and the hosts confirmed themselves a very good team. However, to make the difference are Tourcoing’s performance in blocking, as scored as many as 21 points from this element, basically almost an entire set! 6 only by Rune Fasteland, who had played a great game with 15 points to his name through 82% in attack (9/11, without errors or blocked). Even better setter Matias Giraudo, the best blocker with 7 block points and 10 points to his name, while his compatriot, Argentina National Team opposite Pablo Koukartsev, ended the match as top scorer with 22 points (51% in attack and 1 block).
Eldin Demirovic was the most prolific player among the hosts with 17 points (1 ace, 1 of his team’s “only” 7 blocks and 60% in attack).

Four sets win also for Saint Nazaire, who defeated Paris by 3-1 (21:25, 25:23, 25:21, 25:14), with 14 points apiece from Kyle Ensing and Jordan Schnitzer (including 4 aces, 3 winning blocks and 70% in attack).
Close the picture the victory at tie break of Sète on the field of Plessis Robinson – 2-3 (18:25, 25:19, 23:25, 25:18, 9:15). In a match with lot of ups and downs in both sides, Celestin Cardin scored 20 points through 54% in attack for the winners, who managed to earned two points for their standings despite the hosts’ 16 winning blocks (against 7 for Sète) and Samuel Jeanlys’ 31 points (57% in attack, 5 blocks and 2 aces).
