France: Nice stop undefeated Tourcoing! 1-3 in the last game of Round 7

Round 7 of 2023/24 Marmara Spike League has been closed today with an unexpected upset: the victory of Nice, second-to-last prior to this game, on the field of undefeated Tourcoing (at least, prior to this game!).
In an exciting game lasted 2 hours and 2 minutes and ended with tue score of 1-3 (21:25, 26:24, 23:25, 22:25) in favor of the visiting side, Tourcoing started slightly better taking an early +2 lead 8-6, but then the rivals reacted, and managed to win the set 21:25. In the second one the hosts kept the control from start to finish, closing however with the minimum gap, and the same happened in third one, but in favor of Nice.
The decisive fourth set was nail-biting as Tourcoing started better, claiming even an important 16-13 lead, but the rivals don’t give up, closed set and game with a convincing 22:25, inflicted the first seasonal defeat to Tourcoing and can celebrate three very important points for the standings.
In fact now they have 6 six points, like defending champions Tours, who yesterday finally secured a win over Poitiers, and the same Poitiers.
Still without starting opposite and libero Simon Hirsch and Landon Currie, Nice was able to count on setter Javier Gonzalez, MVP of the match, opposite Luis Paolinetti, top scorer with 22 points to his name through 49% in attack and 3 winning blocks, Matteo Schalk, who also contributed with 15 but also on the two middle blockers who played today, Franco Medina and Rodney Ah-Kong, who tallied 13 and 12 points respectively, the first one with 5 blocks, 1 ace and 78% in attack (7/9).
Among the hosts, who recovered Ryley Barnes (today on the bench), Pablo Koukartsev was the most prolific player with 19 points but this time only 38% in attack with 6 errors and blocked four times.
The other team who celebrate today is Nantes, who remain alone to the top of the standings with 19 points, followed by Tourcoing and Chaumont, both with 18 closely followed also by a great Toulouse, now at fourth place with 16.
