After the advance played yesterday, in which Tourcoing defeated Sète in straight sets, and the successes of Nice and Poitiers, Round 5 of 2026/27 Alterna Volstar has been completed today with the remaining four games, with Spacer’s Toulouse extending their perfect start to the season and three other teams collecting important victories. Tours, Cannes and Saint-Nazaire all secured three points, while Narbonne, Royan and Montpellier were left to reflect on missed opportunities.

Spacer’s Toulouse continued their impressive campaign with a convincing 3–0 home victory over Plessis-Robinson (25:18, 25:21, 25:21). Playing at the Palais des Sports André-Brouat, the league leaders maintained control throughout the encounter, winning all three sets without allowing the visitors to seriously threaten their advantage. The result takes Toulouse to 15 points from five matches, with five victories and no defeats. Their consistency has been particularly impressive, having already beaten Cannes and reigning French champions Montpellier in previous rounds. Plessis-Robinson, meanwhile, remain on four points after suffering their fourth defeat of the campaign.
MVP Redi Bakiro led the winners with 16 points to his name through 55% in attack, 1 ace and 4 blocks, while Daniel Bala added 10 through 67% in attack.

Tours Volley-Ball produced one of the evening’s most significant performances, coming from behind to defeat Narbonne 3–1 (22:25, 29:27, 25:21, 25:19) at the Narbonne Arena. The home side made a positive start, taking the opening set 25–22, and also looked capable of extending their advantage in the second. Narbonne led 16–14, but Tours fought back to snatch a dramatic 29–27 set, a turning point that changed the direction of the match. The visitors then took control, winning the third 25–21 before completing the comeback with a 25–19 fourth set.
Vasily Molotkov led Tours with 20 points, including 18 successful attacks and two blocks and 64% in attack, while Victor Almeida Cardoso added 14 and MVP Simon Roehrig (62% in attack, 3 aces and 5 blocks) contributed 13. François Huetz finished with 11 points, while Earvin Ngapeth scored 10 in front of 2,742 spectators. For Narbonne, Michael Czerwinski was the outstanding scorer with 25 points, including two aces, while Tim Held added 11 and Liam Patte 10. Tours held a clear advantage in attack efficiency, recording 58% success compared with Narbonne’s 48%, and also dominated the blocking statistics 11–6. Despite scoring six aces against five for the visitors, Narbonne could not prevent Tours from taking all three points.

AS Cannes also secured an important away victory, defeating newly promoted Royan Atlantique 3–1 (20:25, 25:16, 25:18, 25:18). Royan took the opening set 25–20, but Cannes responded emphatically, raising their level to win the next three sets and close out the match. The result allows Cannes to maintain their position among the leading teams, taking their tally to 11 points after four victories in five rounds. For Royan, the defeat means another opportunity to collect points at home has slipped away, leaving the newcomers with six points after five matches.
Théo Mohwinkel played a great game for Cannes finishing with 16 points to his name through 62% in attack, while an excellent Luc Van Der Ent also contributed with 16 too and as many as 9 winning blocks!

Saint-Nazaire completed the evening’s programme with a valuable 3–1 victory over defending champions Montpellier (27:25, 17:25, 25:22, 26:24). The opening set was immediately competitive, with Saint-Nazaire eventually edging a tight finish 27–25. Montpellier responded in the second, levelling the match with a convincing 25–17, but the home side regained the initiative in the third. The fourth set provided another close battle, with Saint-Nazaire holding their nerve to win 26–24 and secure three important points against the reigning champions. It was a significant result for a team looking to establish greater consistency after a difficult opening to the season, while Montpellier were unable to build on their previous victory over Toulouse.
MVP Yusniel Marti led the charge with 23 points to his name through 59% in attack.

After five rounds, Toulouse remain the only unbeaten team in the competition, leading the standings with 15 points. Tourcoing and Tours follow on 12, while Chaumont and Cannes have 11 each. Nice are next on 10, with the battle for the positions behind the leaders already becoming increasingly competitive.

The fifth round has once again underlined the depth of Alterna Volstar. Toulouse continue to set the pace, Tours have strengthened their position with an important away win, Cannes remain firmly in contention and Saint-Nazaire have delivered one of the weekend’s most valuable results by overcoming the reigning champions.

Alterna Volstar will continue on Thursday with the advance of Round 6 between Chaumont and Toulouse.
