Austrian Cup: Aich/Dob first finalist! Waldviertel defeated in straight sets
2 min read
After a great performance against Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel, SK Zadruga Aich/Dob became 1st Austrian Cup finalist.
The Lower Carinthians prevailed in just three sets (25:14, 25:20, 25:23) on Wednesday evening, while the second final ticket will be awarded on Thursday, in which defending champions HYPO TIROL volleyball team will play on the field of TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg in the last game before the Christmas break.
Just like last Saturday in the 12th round of the Powerfusion Austrian Volley League regular season, Aich/Dob showed no problems against the same rivals in the JUFA Arena.
The team of head coach Lucio Antonio Oro, the native Brazilian with an Italian passport who replaced Michael Murauer as head coach at the end of November, needed only 76 minutes to reach the final.
Top scorers for the winners were Angelos Mandilaris (16), Kristof Horvath and Bryan Camino Martinez with 10 each, while Koendert Daan Streutker (9), Paul Nusterer (8) and Jan Tarabus (6) were the most prolific players for Waldviertel.
The cup titles, for Men and Women, will be awarded at the end of February.
