After two advances played yesterday, won both in straight sets by Ślepsk Malow Suwałki and BOGDANKA Luk Lublin, Round 16 of 2023/24 Plusliga or, if you prefer, Round 1 of second leg continued today with other two games.
In the big match between N.2 Projekt Warszawa and No.4 Asseco Resovia Rzeszów, to celebrate are the latter, with a 1-3 (25:23, 21:25, 19:25, 20:25) away win, even if nothing change for them in the standings, as they remained at fourth place now at -3 from today’s rivals and now second-placed Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, both with 38 points after today’s games.
In a thrilling game lasted 126 minutes and in front of 4817 volleyball fans in country’s capital, Bartłomiej Bołądź for Warszawa and Stephen Boyer for the winners, named MVP of the match, both scored 23 points, the first one through 61% in attack with 1 ace and 2 blocks, but he wasn’t enough, while the second with 3 aces, 1 block and 51% in attack. But Resovia was also better from the service line, scoring 12 aces compared to the hosts’ only 2.
Although they have the same number of points in the standings Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie surpasses Projekt Warszawa in the standings and rise to the second place at -1 from leaders Jastrzębski Węgiel, who tomorrow will face PSG Stal Nysa, after beating Indykpol AZS Olsztyn at tie break in front of their home fans, 3-2 (25:17, 21:25, 23:25, 26:24, 15:12). After 167 minutes of play opposite Karol Butryn was named again MVP of the match after the game of CEV Cup played on Wednesday in which they down Italian side Allianz Milano in just three sets.
Today he put down 22 points through 55% in attack and 4 of his team’s 13 aces, while Mateusz Bieniek and Trevor Clevenot added 17 each.
Moritz Karlitzek and Alan Souza were the most prolific players on the other side of the net with 22 and 20 points respectively, but they weren’t enough.
Round 16 will continue tomorrow with other 3 games, including one of Plusliga’s classics between PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów and Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle, but this season only at 10th and 9th place in the standings, respectively.
