Poland: Asseco Resovia Rzeszów and Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie closed Round 17 with 3 points

In Round 17 of 2023/24 PlusLiga, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie and Asseco Resovia Rzeszów emerge victorious in their respective matches.
Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie delivered a dominant performance against newcomers Exact Systems Hemarpol Częstochowa, securing a clear 0-3 (23:25, 20:25, 18:25) away win. This victory marked their fourteenth of the season, propelling them to the second spot on the league standings with the same number of points of Projekt Warszawa, who down GKS Katowice with the same result on Friday.
Dawid Dulski from Hemarpol Częstochowa led the scoring with 17 points, supported by Damjan Kogut’s 9 points. For the winners, Bartosz Kwolek and Karol Butryn were decisive in their success, scoring 13 and 12 points respectively, while the title of Most Valuable Player was awarded to setter Miguel Tavares.
In the other match of the day, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów faced a tough challenge against Ślepsk Malow Suwałki but ultimately prevailed with a 3-1 (25:14, 21:25, 25:15, 25:22) home victory.
The game witnessed a remarkable turnaround thanks to Stephen Boyer of Asseco Resovia, who, coming off the bench, secured a conspicuous series of seven aces, particularly turning the tide in the third set. The most points for Asseco Resovia were scored by Yacine Louati (19), Stephen Boyer himself (18), and Torey DeFalco (17). Yacine Louati’s great performance, marked by 48% attack efficiency along with 2 aces and 2 blocks, earned him the MVP title, while Bartosz Filipiak with 16 points was the most prolific player of Ślepsk Malow Suwałki.
