CEV Cup: Resovia take first step towards Semifinals! Aluron defeated in just 3 sets!

First leg of 2023/24 CEV Cup quarterfinals is over today with the Polish derby between Asseco Resovia Rzeszów and Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, surprisingly won by the hosts in just three sets (25:22, 25:16, 25:23).
These two already faced each others late in January in Plusliga Round 18, in which Aluron won in four sets!
Today’s winners played a super performance in blocking, scoring 14
points from this element (7 only
from Karol Klos) compared to the rivals’ only 5, while Stephen Boyer and Yacine Louati scored 15 points apiece, well supported by Tj Defalco who added 14. Trevor Clevenot and Karol Butryn were the only players in double digit for Aluron, with 14 and 13 points respectively, but only 36% in attack for the latter.
