In an unusual turn of events at the start of the quarter-finals of the Powerfusion Austrian Volley League Men, regular season winners HYPO TIROL volleyball team win Game 1 without playing.
The decision of the Austrian Volleyball Association (ÖVV) resulted in this game being scored as follows: VCA Amstetten NÖ against Hypo Tirol Volleyball Team 0-3 (0:25, 0:25, 0:25).
This unusual measure was taken due to the special circumstances that arose before the scheduled game.
According to the report by the first referee Markus Petsche, the award ceremony for the girls’ youth competition, which took place before the Bundesliga game, ended at 5:30 p.m. At this point, the penultimate game of the boys’ youth competition, which was also held at Amstetten’s Johann Pölz halle, was still underway.
The organizing club VCA Amstetten NÖ decided not to cancel the youth competition in favor of the 1st Bundesliga game.
Based on the opinion received from the arbitration court, it was determined that the start of the game before 7:15 p.m. would not have been possible.
This delay significantly exceeded the maximum time limit of 45 minutes that the visiting team would have been obliged to wait. Therefore, the departure of the visiting team Hypo Tirol Volleyball Team without playing the game was justified.
As a consequence, the game against the home team VCA Amstetten NÖ will be penalized.
The HYPO TIROL volleyball team looks forward to this unusual victory with confidence and is preparing for the remaining games in the quarter-finals.
