Austria: Hypo Tirol, Hartberg and Aich/Dob to semifinals! Waldviertel and Ried to decisive Game 3

First verdicts in 2023/24 Powerfusion Austrian Volley League playoffs!
Defending champions HYPO TIROL volleyball team, TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg and Austrian Volley Cup winners SK Zadruga Aich/Dob claimed their tickets for semi-finals on Saturday evening, while Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel forced their best-of-three series against UVC McDonald’s Ried on decisive Game 3 on Sunday.
Second in regular season TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg defeated TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien in four sets in their home hall 25:22, 25:27, 25:20, 25:19, while two weeks ago the Styrians won 3-0 away. Top scorers Lukas Glatz (27) and Đorđe Knezevic (15) for the winners, and Stefan Mayerhofer (15) and Aaron Reiss (14) on the losing side.
Defending champion HYPO TIROL volleyball team didn’t give VCA Amstetten NÖ a chance (25:14, 25:15, 25:15) led by top scorers Luan Weber (14) and Arthur Nath (10), after winning Game 1 without playing. Samuel Jackman, Artem Skorokhod and Markuss Cielavs with only 7 points each were the most prolific players for Amstetten. In best-of-five semifinal series, they’ll meet SK Zadruga Aich/Dob, who beat UVC Holding Graz 3-0 (30:28, 25:18, 29:27) in their JUFA Arena.
The cup winner didn’t lose a set away from home, but had to fight much harder than two weeks ago. Top scorers of the game Angelos Mandilaris (19) and Miguel Sinfonio (15), and Arwin Kopschar (11) and David Reiter (10) for Graz.
Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel defeated UVC McDonald’s Ried 3-1 (25:20, 26:24, 15:25, 25:22) in front of their home fans, and thus took revenge for the away defeat in the first quarter-final duel. The decider will take place on Sunday at 5 p.m. local time and the Northmen will have the home advantage again. Top scorers of the game Yaroslav Horobets (23) and Niklas Stooß (10) for the winners, and Jakub Petras (21) and Markus Berger (17) for Ried.
In the relegation round, UNIONvolleys Bisamberg-Hollabrunn celebrated a 3-0 (25:22, 25:20, 25:21) home win over Oberbank STEELVOLLEYS Linz-Steg. On Sunday, currently leaders VBK Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt will have the chance to continue their successful run against SPORTUNION z+p St. Pölten and achieve their fourth win in a row.
