Polish Cup: final is Jastrzębski Węgiel – Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie! Lublin and Warszawa defeated in straight sets

Two semifinals of 2023/24 TAURON Pucharu Polski, Polish Cup, were played today, both ended in straight sets.
In a very hot Tauron Arena in Kraków, in front of more than 10.000 volleyball fans, Plusliga leaders Jastrzębski Węgiel managed to down Bogdanka LUK Lublin in just three sets, partially 25:21, 25:23 and 25:18.
For Champions League semifinalists (they eliminated Piacenza on Wednesday), top scorer Jean Patry closed the game with 16 points to his name through 62% in attack and 3 winning blocks, well supported by Tomasz Fornal who added 13 and 10 each from Jurij Gladyr, Rafał Szymura and MVP Norbert Huber (officially a Jastrzębski player also in 2024/25): for the middle blocker, 60% in attack, 3 winning blocks and 1 ace.
For Lublin, 12 points from Alexandre Ferreira, but with only 30% in attack, and 10 from Damian Schulz (42% in attack).
In second semifinal, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie eliminated with the same result, 0-3 (18:25, 24:26, 27:29), CEV Challenge Cup winners Projekt Warszawa.
After 104 exciting minutes of play, Karol Butryn was named MVP of the match with 18 points through 56% in attack, including 2 winning blocks followed by Mateusz Bieniek, who added 11 with 1 ace, 3 blocks and 64% in attack.
Bartłomiej Bołądź with 14 points to his name (but with only 36% in attack) and Kevin Tillie, with 13 with 44% in attack and 2 aces were the most prolific players for the team from country’s capital.
On Sunday, at 2.45 Local Time, the Final between Jastrzębski Węgiel and Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie.
