Poland: Warszawa and Resovia to semifinals. Bełchatów win Game 1 for 9th Place

In a thrilling Quarterfinal series of 2023/24 PlusLiga playoffs, the top four seeds successfully advanced to the semifinals, confirming their favorite position in regular season. After Jastrzębski Węgiel and Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, who claimed their tickets for semifinals already yesterday, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów and Projekt Warszawa joined them today, with the latter securing their spot in a decisive golden set.
Resovia, despite missing French bomber Stephen Boyer due to injury, overcame Trefl Gdańsk with a heroic performance from Jakub Bucki, who left the court with 24 points to his name through 50% in attack, 2 winning blocks and as many as 11 of his team’s 18 aces!
They sealed their progress with a 3-1 (26:28, 25:23, 25:14, 25:16) home win after a hard-fought 3-2 away victory in first leg.
Projekt Warszawa endured a rollercoaster series against Bogdanka LUK Lublin, ultimately triumphing in the golden set after losing 0-3 (20:25, 22:25, 19:25) at home, having previously won 3-1 away.
The semifinals promise more intense action, with Asseco Resovia set to face Jastrzębski Węgiel, while Projekt Warszawa will face Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, continuing the thrilling chase for the Polish championship title.
In the evening PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów won first leg for 9th place on the field of Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle – 1-3 (22:25, 25:18, 22:25, 19:25).
