Poland: Jastrzębski Węgiel win 4th title in club’s history. Aluron defeated in decisive Game 3

In decisive Game 3 of 2023/24 PlusLiga final, Jastrzębski Węgiel clinched their fourth Polish Championship by defeating Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie with the score of 3-1 (25:19, 21:25, 25:23, 25:18). The victory in Sunday’s match, which was notably quiet following Saturday’s controversial game, gave the winners a 2-1 lead in the best-of-three series.
The hosts were better in correlation block-defense, scoring as many as 16 points from this element (in addition to take advantage from the rivals’ 12 errors in attack).
8 winning blocks came from an once again decisive Norbert Huber who, after a calm Game 2, left the court as protagonist with 15 points to his name, 53% in attack and 3 aces.
MVP awards, however, to Jean Patry, author of 17 points through 47% in attack. Benjamin Toniutti, always precise, sent in double digit also Tomasz Fornal (16) and Rafał Szymura (12).
For Aluron, 7 aces (3 from Bartosz Kwolek) and another great performance from middle blocker Mateusz Bieniek (12 points with 1 ace, 3 blocks and 47% in attack) were not enough.
Jastrzębski Węgiel’s season is not over yet: they are set to compete in the Champions League finals against Itas Trentino on May 5th!
And, about Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, this was a great result as this marks the first time they have reached the finals, while their previous best was a bronze medal in 2022!
