Trentino Itas secure 4th CEV Champions League title! An unrecognizable Jastrzębski Węgiel defeated in straight sets

1 min read

Italian powerhouse Trentino Itas secured their fourth CEV Champions League Volley title by defeating Champions of Poland Jastrzębski Węgiel in just three sets (25:20, 25:22, 25:21) at the Antalya Spor Salonu.
The victory marks a significant triumph for the Italian team, which previously won three consecutive titles from 2009 to 2011, but surprisingly eliminated in Semifinals in their Superlega campaign.
The match began with Trento taking an early lead, showcasing their confidence. Despite a strong comeback attempt by the rivals, who played the whole game below expectations, they managed to maintain control throughout the clash, lasted only 83 minutes.
Key performances included Alessandro Michieletto, who led Trentino with 16 points including 2 aces and 1 block through 54% in attack, and Kamil Rychlicki who added 15 with 1 block and the same percentage in attack.
Jastrzębski Węgiel, on the other hand, showed resilience, with Tomasz Fornal scoring the highest for his team with 19 points including 1 ace, 3 winning blocks and 52% in attack.
However, some fatal errors in decisive moments allowed the team around head coach Fabio Soli to capitalize and secure the win.
