Poland: Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie claims first Polish Supercup after a thrilling win over Jastrzębski Węgiel

In an exciting game at Katowice’s Spodek Arena, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie triumphed over current Polish Champions Jastrzębski Węgiel with a 2-3 (25:21, 21:25, 21:25, 25:19, 21:23) victory to secure the AL-KO Polish Supercup 2024.
The encounter reached its climax in an intensely fought only after 23-21 of fifth set!
Battling for the first trophy of the new volleyball season, the Polish Cup holders overcame the national champions in a match that kept fans on the edge of their seats, but Aluron, eventually, lifted the Supercup for the first time in the club’s history after as many as 173 minutes of play.
MVP of the match Aaron Russell, who scored 25 points through 43% in attack, 1 block and 1 ace, but Karol Butryn once again made the difference with 29, including 1 block, 47% in attack and 4 of the winners’ 6 aces.
Tomasz Fornal was the most prolific player on the losing side with 19 points to his name.
Last season, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie clinched the Tauron Polish Cup by defeating Jastrzębski Węgiel 3-1 in the final.
However, Jastrzębski Węgiel claimed the PlusLiga title by overcoming the same rivals 2–1 (3-0, 1-3, 3-1), marking their fourth national championship.
