France: Poitiers and Montpellier win advance of Round 2. 1 point for Nice

2 min read

After an exciting start in Round 1, ended last Sunday, 2024/25 Marmara Spike League continued today with two advances of Round 2.
Despite a shaky start, Poitiers secured a commanding 0-3 (23:25, 20:25, 14:25) victory on the field of Chaumont, one of the top contenders for the championship title.
Earvin Ngapeth, the French volleyball star, was decisive today during the crucial moments of the match, delivering a very good performance (13 points, all in attack, through 45%), that has sent a strong message to the competition.
The veteran player, who recently returned to his hometown team Poitiers, has led his team to two consecutive wins in the season!
After a hard-fought but victorious opening match against Narbonne, Poitiers made a powerful statement by dominating Chaumont, a team that has reached the finals five times in the last seven seasons.
Pierre Toledo left the court as top scorer with 15 points for Chaumont, but he wasn’t enough.
In the other match of the day, Montpellier triumphed over Nice 3-2 (23:25, 25:19, 20:25, 25:23, 17:15) in a thrilling five-set showdown, with a battle between two opposites, who scored 27 points each: among the winners, Dimitar Dimitrov (57% in attack including 2 aces and 1 block), while Simon Hirsch, MVP and protagonist in Round 1 in his team’s victory over Toulouse, scored the same number of points for Nice (3 aces, 3 winning blocks and 40% in attack).
