Austria: all results of Round 2 – only away wins! Hartberg down Amstetten at tie break. 3 points for Aich/Dob, Graz, Ried and Hypo Tirol

Round 2 of Powerfusion Volley League 2024/25 has been completed today.
Last season’s runners-up TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg won the opening match played on Friday against a reworked VCA Amstetten NÖ after a tough fight at Amstetten’s Johann-Pölz-Halle, 2-3 (25:23, 23:25, 20:25, 25:21, 13:15).
The top scorers of the game were youngsters Tobias Willimek for the winners, and Bálint Kecskemeti for Amstetten with 20 points each. For Amstetten this was first point of the season, while Hartberg have 5 points in the standings.
On Saturday, newcomers Sportunion z+p St. Pölten lost their first home game against super favorite SK Zadruga Aich/Dob. The ÖVV Cup winner won 3-0 (25:14, 25:20, 25:17) in the VS Kilb sports hall, as the Lower Austria Sports Center is not yet available again due to the flooding in September. Top scorers of the game Noel Krassnig with 11 points for the winners, with Sebastian Sablatnig who suffered an ankle injury in the first set and will miss the second leg of CEV Cup qualifiers in Lausanne (at home they won at tie break), and Georg Köstler (9) for the hosts.
Like Aich/Dob, UVC Holding Graz also has five points after two games, with an away win on the field of Kelag Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt, 3-0 (25:18, 25:14, 25:21).
The winnes dominated the game despite the absence of Benedikt Sablatnig and Johannes Kratz, both injured, led in score by 19-year-old Nils Arvay and Ulve Steidl, with 13 each. Noah Neunhoeffer scored seven points for Klagenfurt.
TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien lost the duel with UVC McDonald’s Ried, 1-3 (25:19, 21:25, 18:25, 18:25), to lead the current standings together with defending champion HYPO TIROL volleyball team, who won on the field of Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel by 3-1 (25:16, 23:25, 25:17, 25:22) later this evening.
This was their eighth win in their eighth game of the season across all competitions!
The winners’ top scorer was Arthur Nath with 19 points, while Zachary Palankai-Omoshebi scored 15 for the hosts.
Tomorrow, on Sunday, ten games of the first Round of Austrian Cup round will take place, including the big match between Sokol and Waldviertel. Already in the round of 16 are PSVBG Salzburg and HYPO TIROL or defending champions Aich/Dob, St. Pölten, Kelag Wörther-See-Löwen and Amstetten.
