Austria: all results of Round 3 – Hypo Tirol and Ried again to the top!

Round 3 of 2024/25 Powerfusion VL has been played throughout the weekend.
UVC McDonald’s Ried scored another victory on Saturday in the game that opened this round afainst last-placed VBK Kelag Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt with the score of 3-0 (25:20, 25:14, 25:20) to keep the maximum number of points.
The best scorers for the hosts, who were better in all elements, were Borys Zhukov (14) and Markus Berger (13) and for Klagenfurt veteran Simon Frühbauer and Moritz Nedetzky with 8 each.
Also on Saturday, SK Zadruga Aich/Dob celebrated a confident home victory by beating TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien 3-0 (25:16, 25:21, 25:22)
too, led by Noel Krassnig, Carlos Charles Santana, Bryan Camino Martinez and Jakub Klajmon, who scored eight points each. Tobias Ofner (11) and Jakub Kocvara (10) scored the most points for the team from country’s capital.
On Sunday, defending champions HYPO TIROL Volleyball Team won the big match against last season runners-up TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg with the score of 3-0 (31:29, 25:17, 25:21) to stay to the top of the standings along with UVC McDonald’s Ried.
An important factor in HYPO TIROL’s victory was Michael Ladner, who replaced the injured star attacker Arthur Nath very well with 8 points.
The top scorers in the Stadtwerke-Hartberg-Halle were Niklas Kronthaler (19), Kyle Hobus and Pedro Frances (10 each) for the winners, who are still unbeaten this season, and Lukas Glatz (18), Maximilian Steinböck, Richard Hensel and Dorde Knezevic (7 each) for the home team. HYPO TIROL was more efficient in attack (60% to 52%), scored more aces (5 to 1), while the rivals scored more points in blocking (7 to 9).
On Wednesday, head coach Lorenzo Tubertini’s team will be visiting Dutch champions Orion Stars Doetinchem in the second leg of the third and last round of Champions League, after the 3-0 win in the first leg. If they’ll win two sets, they will reach the group phase. If Doetinchem wins 3-0 or 3-1, there will be a golden set.
Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel scored their first victory in the regular season, and they did it against newcomers Sportunion z+p St. Pölten with the score of 3-1 (25:18, 25:20, 22:25, 25:23) in the Lower Austria derby at the VS Kilb sports hall. The winners dominated the first two sets, and they proved to be better also in decisive fourth one. St. Pölten didn’t give up, but ultimately had to admit defeat.
Close the picture VCA Amstetten NÖ who also had their first success on Sunday evening after a thrilling duel against UVC Holding Graz in their Johann-Pölz-Halle, 3-2 (25:19, 25:22, 23:25, 18:25, 15:13).
