Poland: Ślepsk Malow Suwałki stun ZAKSA in Round 7. 3 points for Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie

After the advance played on Wednesday, in which current leaders PGE Projekt Warszawa needed five sets to prevail over Asseco Resovia Rzeszów, Round 7 of 2024/25 Plusliga continued today with other two games.
The day started with Ślepsk Malow Suwałki who stun ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle after 150 minutes of play, by winning the game with the score of 3-2 (25:21, 16:25, 25:22, 20:25, 15:13).
The teams fierce battled throughout the match, but the hosts managed to edge out ZAKSA in a tightly contested tie-break (15-13) in a win that marks third victory of the season for Ślepsk Malow Suwałki, breaking a four-game losing streak, while ZAKSA suffered their third defeat.
Top scorers among the winners were MVP Paweł Halaba with 16 points to his name through 52% in attack and 1 block, Bartosz Filipiak with 13, and Henrique Honorato with 12. For ZAKSA, Rafał Szymura led with 19 points, followed by Daniel Chitigoi with 17, and Igor Grobelny with 12.
In the evening, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie secured a 3-1 (22:25, 25:20, 25:22, 25:22) win over Indykpol AZS Olsztyn in another 7th-round PlusLiga match.
Despite Olsztyn winning the first set under new coach Marcin Mierzejewski, the winners dominated the following sets, leading their rivals to their sixth defeat in seven games.
Aaron Russell led his team in score with 21 points to his name through 50% in attack and 3 winning blocks, well supported by Karol Butryn’s 17 and Patryk Łaba’s 11, while libero Luke Perry was awarded MVP with 76% positive reception and 13 defenses.
Indykpol AZS Olsztyn top scorers were Nicolas Szerszeń with 14 points, Moritz Karlitzek with 13, and Daniel Gąsior also with 13. The game saw a high number of errors, including a combined 40 missed serves.
Round 7 will continue tomorrow with other three games: Cuprum Stilon Gorzów will welcome defending champions Jastrzębski Węgiel, PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów will face newcomers Nowak-Mosty MKS Będzin while, in the evening, GKS Katowice will welcome BOGDANKA LUK Lublin.
