Poland: PGE Projekt Warszawa won big match of Round 9 against BOGDANKA LUK Lublin and fly temporarily to the top!

After the advance played yesterday, in which Ślepsk Malow Suwałki defeated PSG Stal Nysa by 3-1, Round 9 of 2024/25 Plusliga continued today with the big match between PGE Projekt Warszawa, prior to this game at third place in the current standings with 20 points, and BOGDANKA LUK Lublin, who shared the top of the standings with defending champions Jastrzębski Węgiel. Both sides had 22 points, with the latter out in the field of PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów on Monday.
The game ended with a well-deserved success of PGE Projekt Warszawa, who won with the score of 3-1 (21:25, 25:20, 25:15, 25:21) and now fly to the top of the standings, at least until Monday!
After 122 minutes of play, German opposite Linus Weber earned MVP award with 22 points to his name through 56% in attack and 6 of the winners’ 11 aces, while Arthur Szalpuk also contributed with 16.
On the other side of the net Wilfredo Leon and Kewin Sasak scored 19 and 18 points respectively, but they weren’t enough to snatch at least one point.
This loss marked the first defeat of the season for the Lublin team after an impressive eight-match winning streak!
Round 9 will continue tomorrow with other three games: Indykpol AZS Olsztyn will welcome Asseco Resovia Rzeszów, Trefl Gdańsk will face last season runners-up Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie while, in the evening, Steam Hemarpol Norwid Częstochowa will welcome GKS Katowice.
