Poland: Round 9 continues – Gdańsk stun Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie. 3 points for Resovia and Częstochowa

Round 9 of 2024/25 Plusliga continued today with other three games.
The game started with Asseco Resovia Rzeszów who dominated Indykpol AZS Olsztyn with a 0-3 (22:25, 14:25, 18:25) away win. Breaking their two-match tie-break losing streak, Resovia’s victory marked their third win of the season. Olsztyn, missing two key players, Jan Hadrava and Eemi Tervaportti, suffered their seventh loss, remaining with just one success in this edition of Plusliga.
Bartosz Bednorz led the winners with 20 points to his name through 73% attack efficiency, 1 block, 70% positive reception rate and MVP award, while Stephen Boyer and Lukas Vasina added 14 and 11 points respectively. Daniel Gąsior scored 14 points on the losing side.
Meanwhile, Trefl Gdańsk secured a thrilling 3-2 (18:25, 26:24, 24:26, 25:22, 15:12) victory over Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie.
This great home win marks Gdańsk’s third league triumph this season and their first win on their own court. The match, ended in five sets, continuing their streak of five tie-breaks so far this season!
Top scorers of the game included MVP Jakub Czerwiński with 20 points to his name through 67% success rate in attack, 1 ace, and 3 blocks, Jakub Jarosz with 19, and Piotr Orczyk with 18 for the winners. On the other side of the net, Karol Butryn scored 19 points, and Aaron Russell also contributed with 15.
In the evening, Steam Hemarpol Norwid Częstochowa down GKS Katowice with the score of 3-1 (25:21, 26:24, 21:25, 25:21).
After 129 minutes of play, Patrick Indra earned MVP award leaving the court with 24 points to his name through 59% in attack, 1 ace and 1 block.
Round 9 will continue tomorrow with other two games. Jastrzębski Węgiel, now at -1 from current leaders PGE Projekt Warszawa, who yesterday won the big match against BOGDANKA Luk Lublin, will have the chance to regain first place in the standings competing on the field of PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów while, in the evening, Cuprum Stilon Gorzów will welcome Barkom Każany Lwów.
