Italy: all results of Round 14 – 3 points for Padova, Trento, Perugia and Piacenza. 2 for Monza and Verona

Round 14 of 2024/25 SuperLega Credem Banca or, if you prefer, Round 3 of second leg saw important victories for Monza, Padova, Perugia, Piacenza, Trento and Verona.
In a thrilling tie-break, Mint Vero Volley Monza defeated Cucine Lube Civitanova 3-2 (25:13, 22:25, 17:25, 31:29, 15:12), with Taylor Averill earning MVP honors with 13 points to his name, but double digit also for Arthur Szwarc, top scorer with 24 points, Erik Rohrs, who added 17, Ivan Zaytsev with 14, in what was his last match with the club, and captain Thomas Beretta, who also contributed with 11.
So a very important Christmas gift for the winners, in front of almost 3000 volleyball fans at Opiquad Arena. Among the visiting side, 4 players in double digit, with Aleksandar Nikolov who led the charge with 19 points after a bad start for Lube, then Adis Lagumdzija, Mattina Bottolo and Barthlemy Chinenyeze, all with 16 points.
Monza now shares last place in the standings with 9 points each together with newcomers Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina, defeated at tie break on the field of Rana Verona, 3-2 (25:17, 25:16, 23:25, 17:25, 15:13), after a disastrous start and after being down 2-0. Rok Mozic earned MVP award thanks to his 18 points and a solid performance in reception, with 62%.
Meanwhile, Sonepar Padova triumphed 3-1 over Gioiella Prisma Taranto (25:20, 25:21, 24:26, 25:19), thanks to Veljko Masulovicâs stellar 20-points performance through 55% in attack, while Tim Held, scored 16 points with 56% in attack for the visiting side.
Sir Susa Vim Perugia continued their unbeaten streak with a 3-0 sweep of Modena (25:22, 27:25, 25:21).
In a game played in a very high level, Alberto Giuliani’s players, after the heavy defeat on the field of Grottazzolina, fought above showing a great performance from the service line with 7 aces at the end of the game, but Perugia managed to keep the control, led by diagonal Oleh Plotnytskyi â Yuki Ishikawa, both in double digit with 14 and 13 points, respectively, followed by Wassim Ben Tara, who added 10, while captain Simone Giannelli earned MVP honor also with 5 points to his name in front of 4751 fans at PalaBarton.
Itas Trentino also dominated an again disappointed Allianz Milano 3-0 (25:18, 25:23, 25:19), led by Alessandro Michielettoâs 17 points always in key moments of the game, dominating from the service line (10 aces with only 11 errors) and in attack with 54% of team performance. Milano try to reply with Yacine Louati and Matey Kaziyski (30 points in two) but also suffered the bad day of bomber Ferre Reggers, who left the court with only 7 points, as well as of their middle-blockers. Decisive also the 4000 home fans at PalaTrento after a month of always away games.
Close the picture Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza who secured a hard-fought 3-1 victory against Cisterna Volley (25:21, 22:25, 25:23, 27:25), with setter Antoine Brizard named MVP. The winners good also in attack, with 50% of team performance and Efe Mandiraci, who joined the court during the game, with 9 points through 67%.
Next games are Quarterfinals of prestigious Coppa Italia: on Sunday, Itas Trentino, Cucine Lube Civitanova and Rana Verona will welcome Cisterna Volley, Allianz Milano and Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza, respectively, while, on Monday, leaders Sir Susa Vim Perugia will face Valsa Group Modena.
