Coppa Italia: Trento, Civitanova and Verona first semifinalists! Cisterna, Milano and Piacenza eliminated

4 min read

Three teams took their tickets to the Final Four of Del Monte® Coppa Italia, the first important event of 2025 that will be played once again at the UnipolArena in Bologna at the end of January.
The last official match of the year reserved a victory for Itas Trentino, No.2 in regular season at the end of first leg over No.7 Cisterna Volley with the score of 3-1 (25:23, 25:19, 22:25, 25:15) after 99 minutes of play, allowing the winners to extend their amazing streak of victories.
Trento will in fact be protagonist of the Coppa Italia semi-final for the sixteenth consecutive time, and no other Club has ever managed to obtain this result in the history of the competition!
In today’s match, players around head coach Fabio Soli always gave the impression of being able to keep control of the match, even when the opponents came back at the end of the first set (won by the home team 25-23 after having been ahead 14-9) or in the third set, won by Cisterna 22-25, reopening a game that, after two sets, seemed to be heading towards 3-0.
Alessandro Michieletto, once again top scorer with 30 points, through 69% in attack, two blocks and three aces and MVP of the match, made the difference in what was a very convincing team performance in attack (59% with only one error in four sets), but also from the service line, with 10 aces. Decisive also Gabi Garcia, who started from the bench and left the court with 10 points through 64% in attack and one ace, as well as the constant contribution by Flavio, who added 11 through 73%, two blocks and one ace, completed the work, even though on the other side Jordi Ramon and Theo Faure (34 points in two) tried until the end to keep the contest open.
Itas Trentino will face Cucine Lube Civitanova, in a remake that has been played already 8 times in the history of Coppa Italia, 3 in semifinal!
After three years of absence, Civitanova take semifinal ticket after a hard-fought tie break (25:17, 20:25, 25:16, 21:25, 15:11) against Allianz Milano, despite a stunning performance from opposite Ferre Regger, absolute top scorer of the game with as many as 32 points. Behind him Yacone Louati and Jordan Schnitzer, who added 11 each, but they weren’t enough against a team that was better in key moments of the game. Among the winners, double digit for Adis Lagumdzija, author of 14 points, MVP Mattia Bottolo who added 12, Eric Loeppky with 11 who started from the bench and Barthelemy Chinenyeze, with 10.
Also the clash between No.4 in regular season Rana Verona and No.5 Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza ended at tie break in favor of the home team, 3-2 (25:18, 26:24, 23:25, 21:25, 15:10), celebrating a historical qualification led once again by a great Noumory Keita, who scored 30 points also earning MVP awards with 2 aces and 56% in attack. In final they’ll face the winners between Sir Susa Vim Perugia and No.8 Valsa Group Modena, who will face each others tomorrow in a game that will close quarterfinals.
