Poland: Jastrzębski and Warszawa close Round 22 with three points

Round 21 of 2024/25 Plusliga or, if you prefer, Round 6 of second leg, has been completed today with last two games.
Jastrzębski Węgiel triumphed over Indykpol AZS Olsztyn with a 1-3 (20:25, 25:19, 23:25, 23:25) away victory in an intense match in which, despite a spirited fight from the hosts, the current leaders showcased their resilience by dominating the decisive moments of the sets, securing all three points.
Men of the match included Timothee Carle, who led the winners with 22 points to his name, well supported by Tomasz Fornal who added 15 and Norbert Huber, who also contributed with 13.
Nicolas Szerszeń scored 17 points on the other side of the net, with Manuel Armoa and Dawid Siwczyk adding 16 and 12, respectively, while the MVP honor went to Jastrzębski’s libero Jakub Popiwczak.
This marked their 17th win of the season, solidifying their top spot with 54 points, five ahead of Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, while Indykpol AZS Olsztyn, sitting 10th with 28 points, faced further challenges after announcing a sidelining injury for outside hitter and key player Moritz Karlitzek.
In a captivating finale to the 21st round, PGE Projekt Warszawa defeated Barkom-Każany Lwów 3-1 (25:22, 27:29, 25:16, 25:16), securing their 18th victory of the season and solidifying their position in second place.
Artur Szalpuk was named MVP of the match leading all scorers with an impressive 26 points through 65% attack success, 2 blocks, and 2 aces, while Kevin Tillie and Bartłomiej Bołądź added 16 and 15 points, respectively, to fuel the home team’s dominant performance.
Despite the loss, Märt Tammearu played a good game for Barkom-Każany Lwów with 17 points, closely followed by Vasyl Tupchii, who added 15.
Plusliga will continue on Thursday with the advance of Round 22 between Nowak-Mosty MKS Będzin and PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów.
