Coppa Italia: Verona stun Perugia to reach a historical final!

Rana Verona made history in the Del Monte® Coppa Italia semifinals with a sensational 2-3 (25:22, 28:26, 14:25, 19:25, 12:15) comeback victory over super favorite and defending champions Sir Susa Vim Perugia.
After falling behind 0-2, the players around head coach Radostin Stoychev fought back with incredible determination, securing their first-ever spot in the Coppa Italia final.
Noumory Keita was again the hero for Verona, collecting as many as 30 points with 52% attack rate, closely followed by his teammate Rok Mozic who added 28 points through 56% attack efficiency, while setter Kostya Abaev also contributed with 5 of their team’s 14 winning blocks (only 4 for Perugia at the end of the game).
Perugia’s Roberto Russo led the charge for his team, scoring 13 points including all their 4 blocks with an impressive 91% attack success rate, while Japanese superstar Yuki Ishikawa was the most prolific player on the losing side with 15, in a match that started with Perugia taking control, winning the first two sets in a tight, intense battle. However Verona turned things around in sets three and four, showing a remarkable resilience and great teamwork, until the nail-biting final set, with the underdogs holding their composure to close out the match, capped by a crucial block from Aidan Zingel.
This victory marks a historic moment for Verona, as they advance to their first-ever Del Monte® Coppa Italia final. In final they’ll face Cucine Lube Civitanova, who down Itas Trentino also at tie break in second semifinal.
