Italy: Padova stun Civitanova in last (delayed) match of Round 12

In a game that closed 2024/25 Superlega Credem Banca Round 12 or, if you prefer, Round 1 of second leg, that had been postponed due Club World Championship, Sonepar Padova delivered a thrilling five-set victory over Italian Cup winners Cucine Lube Civitanova (18:25, 25:20, 25:19, 23:25, 15:8), all but guaranteeing their stay in SuperLega Credem Banca. Despite the loss, Civitanova secured third place in the regular season, locking in a strong playoff position.
Luca Porro led the charge with 24 points to his name through 61% in attack, while Mattia Bottolo with 17 points through 54% attack was the most prolific player on the other side of the net.
And now playoff race heats up, with Sir Susa Vim Perugia and Itas Trentino, both with 51 points, battle for first place, with Civitanova with 43 firmly in third.
With two matches left, Padova is on the brink of safety, while Civitanova turns their focus to the Playoffs Scudetto.
