Alessandro Michieletto honored as World Championship MVP. Aleksandar Nikolov absolute top scorer with 173 points!

With Italy crowned World Championship champions for second time in a row after a four sets win over Bulgaria, Italy’s outside hitter Alessandro Michieletto was honored as Most Valuable Player of the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship in the Philippines.
The 24-year-old athlete led a line-up of seven well-deserving players named on the symbolic World Championship Dream Team during the awarding ceremony at the end of the final showdown in Pasay City on Sunday evening.
• Best Setter: Simone Giannelli (Italy)
• Best Opposite: Yuri Romano (Italy)
• Best Outside hitters: Alessandro Michieletto (Italy) and Aleksandar Nikolov (Bulgaria)
• Best Middle blockers: Aleks Grozdanov (Bulgaria) and Jakub Kochanowski (Poland)
• Best Libero: Fabio Balaso (Italy)
Michieletto recorded a total of 93 points over the seven matches his team played at Philippines 2025 on the way to the world title, and he was also Italy’s most prolific player of the tournament and the sixth best scorer among all of the World Championship.
He also finished in a joint fifth place in the best servers ranking with 12 aces on his pockets.
However, the absolute top scorer of the competition was his counterpart Aleksandar Nikolov, author of as many as 173 points, followed by Belgium’s opposite Ferre Reggers who recorded 106, just like Czech Republic’s Patrick Indra.
