France: Round 5 continues – 3 points for new leaders Montpellier, Sète and Poitiers!
3 min read
After the advance played yesterday, in which Tourcoing down Toulouse in straight sets, Round 5 of 2025/26 Marmara Spike League continues today with other three games.
In big match for first place in the standings, Montpellier sweep Tours with a clean 3-0 (25:20, 25:18, 25:22) in front of their home fans.
Better in all elements, the winners sit now alone to the top with 13 points, at +2 from their closest pursuers Tourcoing and Tours, who today suffered the bad day of bomber Nik Mujanovic, the only player in double digit for the losing side with 14 points to his name, but with only 45% in attack (14/31, blocked twice and 3 errors). On the other side of the net, Simon Hirsch left the court with 15 points including 1 block and 59% in attack.
Three points also for Sète who, after losing first set, inflicted third defeat in a row to Nice, 1-3 (25:22, 23:25, 25:27, 16:25), mostly thanks to an impressive performance from Tristan Schlienger, author of as many as 32 points in just four sets through a remarkable 76% in attack, 2 aces and 2 blocks.

Hugo De Leon also contributed with 15 points, while Dawid Dulski was the most prolific player on the losing side with 25 points to his name including 1 ace, 2 blocks and 51% in attack. Great performance also for a perfect Merrick McHenry, who left the court with 13 points including 1 ace, 3 blocks and 100% in attack (9/9). However, they weren’t enough for a team who also paid the absence of captain Ryley Barnes, replaced by young Colin Castelnau.
Also Poitiers closed their game in four sets collecting a 3-1 (18:25, 25:22, 25:22, 25:23) home win over Plessis-Robinson, with 12 winning blocks and 4 players in double digit.
Tomas Pujol left the court with 17 points, while Tom Picard, starting from the bench, also gave a strong support with 14 points. Kévin Kobrine and Lukas Maase also contributed with 12 and 10 points, respectively (5 winning blocks for the latter). Brett Wildman and Nathan Canovas scored 18 points each on the other side of the net.
Round 5 will close tomorrow with last three games: the day will start with Cannes who will welcome newcomers Ajaccio, Paris will face Narbonne and then St-Nazaire will welcome still winless Chaumont.
