France: Round 5 completed – 3 points for Ajaccio and Paris. 2 for Saint Nazaire

Fragmented Round 5 of 2025/26 Marmara Spike League, opened on Thursday with Tourcoing who down Toulouse in straight sets, and with yesterday wins of Poitiers, Sète and Montpellier (who down Tours in big match of the week), has been completed today with last three games.
Volleyball Saturday started with the 1-3 (22:25, 18:25, 25:23, 22:25) win of newcomers Ajaccio on the field of Cannes. In an exciting game, Matej Patak led the charge with 22 points to his name, while MVP Daniel Martins De Pinho also contributed with 17 and a collection with decisive points throughout the match including 3 aces.
Xander Ketrzynski was the most prolific player of the match with 23 points through 49% in attack and 1 block, but he wasn’t enough to avoid Cannes’ third defeat.
3 points also for Paris, who down Narbonne after an exciting 3-0 (27:25, 25:18, 26:24). Better in key moments of the game, also in decisive comeback in third set from 18-21, the team from country’s capital was led again by a good Vasil Molotkov, top scorer of the game with 19 points to his name and 2 aces, while François Huetz also contributed with 10. Willner Rivas also tallied 19 points on the other side of the net, but he wasn’t enough to avoid the second defeat in a row also elimation from 2025/26 Coupe de France on Tuesday, on the field of Ligue B side Saint Quentin.
Close the picture on Round 5 a tie break win of St-Nazaire over last-placed Chaumont, 3-2 (19:25, 27:25, 25:16, 23:25, 15:8), who finally, despite still winless, earned first seasonal point.
After a remarkable comeback in fourth sets from 21-18, the visiting side re-opened the game but this wasn’t enough to take also first win, despite a good team performance as 34 errors proved costly. Vladimir Garkov and Kaleb Jenness led the charge with 24 and 20 points, respectively, while Alexandros Raptis tallied 22 on the other side of the net.
Marmara Spike League will continue on Thursday with the advance of Round 6 between Toulouse and Montpellier.
