Third week of 2025/26 CEV Champions League continued today with other 5 games.
In Pool B, Belgian side Knack Roeselare claimed a dramatic first victory this season, edging past Halkbank Ankara 2-3 (18:25, 25:21, 26:24, 15:25, 12:25) on the road after a tense tie-break in Turkish capital.
Playing at the TVF Ziraat Bankkart Volleyball Hall, the visitors showed composure and resilience to seal a well-deserved with after a game that lasted just over two hours.
Roeselare set the tone early, controlling the opening set to take a 1–0 lead, while the hosts responded in the second set, leaning on their experience and power at the net to level the score.
The third set turned into a thrilling battle: even though Roeselare fought back from a deficit, Halkbank narrowly closed it out at 26–24 to move ahead 2–1. The Belgian powerhouse refused to give up, dominating the fourth set from start to finish to force a deciding tie-break, in which they held their nerve in the decisive moments with strong serve pressure and a solid defense to secure the 15–12 win and a memorable away victory.
Basil Dermaux led the winners and finished as the match’s top scorer with as many as 39 points in front of a small but vocal group of traveling Roeselare supporters, while Tsvetan Sokolov was the most prolific player for Halkbank with 24 points.
In Pool D, Poland’s Asseco Resovia Rzeszów sweep Sporting CP Lisboa from Portugal with a clean 3-0 (25:9, 25:23, 25:19). The result keeps the winners in second place in the standings, trailing only their compatriots Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, victorious yesterday in Germany.
Yacine Louati was the man of the match, finishing as top scorer with 19 points, and Jakub Bucki added 12. For Sporting Lisbon, Lourenço Martins led his team with 12 points.
Meanwhile, Ziraat Bankkart Ankara delivered a top performance on their home court, defeating Italian powerhouse Trentino Itas 3-0 (25:15, 33:31, 25:22) becoming the first Turkish club to overcome the Italian side in the competition!
The victory came in a clash between the last two unbeaten teams in Pool A and was sealed in front of a vibrant crowd in Ankara.
The hosts set the tone early, mostly thanks to strong serving and sharp attacking to dominate the opening set, which they closed comfortably at 25–15. Trentino responded with a powerful performance in the second set and pushed the rivals to their limit, also boasting several set points. However, the Turkish side showed composure in the decisive moments, saving multiple chances before earned a well-deserved 33–31 win.
The third set followed a similar pattern, with both teams playing tight battle until the closing stages. However, backed by the home fans, Ziraat raised their level once again and finished the match 25–22 to complete a great straight-sets victory under the blows of Nimir Abdel-Aziz, who earned MVP honors after scoring a match-high 21 points, well supported by Trevor Clevenot with 13 points and Tomasz Fornal who added 12.
For Trentino Itas, Alessandro Michieletto led the scoring with 12 points, followed by Jordi Ramon with 11 and Theo Faure with 10.
The result keeps Ziraat Bankkart in full control of Pool A, while Trentino Itas remain firmly in contention for a place in the knockout stage despite their first defeat of the group phase.
In Pool C, defending champions Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia delivered another amazing home performance, defeating Berlin Recycling Volleys in straight sets (25:13, 25:23, 25:14)to strengthen their lead.
Italian powerhouse dictated the pace from the opening set, overwhelming Berlin with powerful serves and efficiency in attack. After a comfortable first set, the German champions stayed in touch during the second one, but Perugia stepped up in the decisive moments to secure the set and take full control.
The third set was one-way traffic, as the hosts quickly built a decisive lead and closed the match in just over an hour.
Wassim Ben Tara was the top scorer and MVP of the match, finishing with 18 points, including three aces and two blocks, while Oleh Plotnytskyi added 11, and Kamil Semeniuk tallied eight.
For Berlin, Nolan Flexen led the scoring with nine points, followed by Ben Hanes with eight.
The numbers underlined Perugia’s dominance: 70% in attack, nine aces, and four blocks, compared to Berlin’s 51% attack efficiency and four aces. With this win, Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia remain alone to first place in Pool C.
Close the picture Cucine Lube Civitanova, who continued their perfect campaign in Pool E with a convincing 0-3 (18:25, 21:25, 24:26) away victory in Poland, on the field of PGE Projekt Warszawa.
The Italian side controlled the match from the very beginning, taking the opening two sets with authority before edging a tense third set to close the contest overtime. Warszawa offered stronger resistance late on, but the winners’ composure in key moments proved the difference.
Aleksandar Nikolov delivered a standout performance and was named MVP after scoring 19 points with a 56% success rate in attack, well supported by Mattia Bottolo who added 11 and Eric Loeppky with 10. For the hosts, Bartosz Bednorz led the scoring with nine points.
The defeat marks Warszawa’s second loss in the group stage, while Lube consolidate their position to the top of Pool E.
