5 min read
Third week of 2025/26 CEV Champions League has been completed today with last 3 games and the victories of Guaguas Las Palmas, ACH Volley Ljubljana and BOGDANKA Luk Lublin.
Spain’s Guaguas Las Palmas down a resilient VK Lvi Praha to secure a 3-2 (25:16, 21:25, 25:21, 19:25, 15:11) victory in Pool C, prevailing in a tense five-set match that lasted more than two hours at their Gran Canaria Arena.
The hosts took early control with a dominant opening set, making difference in all elements. Praha responded in the second set, finding better balance in attack and evening the match with a 25–21 finish. Guaguas moved back in front by taking the third set 25–21, but the Czech side replied again forcing a decider after claiming the fourth 25–19.
The tie-break remained close until the final stages, when the home team capitalized on key points to close out the match 15–11. Francisco Wallyson Bezerra Souza led the winners with 27 points and was named MVP, while David Kollator scored 21 points for Praha.
In a lively atmosphere at a packed Tivoli Hall, ACH Volley Ljubljana finally celebrated their first victory in Pool A, defeating Tours VB from France in just three sets, 3-0 (26:24, 25:19, 25:22).
After two early setbacks in the group, the Slovenian champions played a great game, earning not only three valuable points but also their first-ever win against today’s rivals after six previous defeats!
The opening set was tight and emotional, with both teams trading the lead, but the hosts stayed calm in the closing stages and edged it 26–24.
That set proved decisive, as Ljubljana took control in the second, closing it 25–19. Tours tried to respond in the third set and briefly moved ahead, but the hosts quickly regained control and calmly finished the match 25–22.
Tonček Štern led the way with an outstanding performance, scoring 24 points and earning MVP honors, while Luka Marovt chipped in with 11, and Nik Mujanović was Tours’ top scorer with 16.
The win puts ACH Volley Ljubljana on the board in Pool A and keeps their Champions League hopes alive, while Tours VB remain without a victory after three matches.
The Polish champions Bogdanka LUK Lublin stayed unbeaten in their CEV Champions League campaign after a confident 1-3 (26:24, 17:25, 19:25, 18:25) away victory on the field of Galatasaray HDI Istanbul.
Playing at the Burhan Felek Sports Hall, the home side, who suffered the absence of two team leaders, setter Arslan Ekşi and opposite Jean Patry, who missed this match due to illness, made a strong start and edged a dramatic first set 26–24. From that moment on, however, the visitors took full control of the match, raising their level in attack, serving with more pressure, and dominating at the net to win the next three sets without major problems.
Lublin were clearly stronger in the key elements, leading in attack efficiency (62% to 48%), blocks (9–6), and aces (7–4), as their consistency proved too much for the hosts as the match went on.
Wilfredo Leon once again led the way, earning MVP honors after scoring 21 points, including two aces and two blocks, while Hilir Henno added 20 points. Galatasaray’s top scorers were Can Koç with 15 and Stephen Maar with 14.
With three wins from three matches, Bogdanka LUK Lublin sit alone to the top of Pool B.
