Champions League: road to Final4 continues – great away wins for Ziraat and Zawiercie. Resovia and Civitanova defeated in straight sets!

After the wins of PGE Projekt Warzawa and Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia, celebrated yesterday first leg of 2025/26 CEV Champions League quarterfinals has been completed with last two games, both ended in straight sets in favor of the visiting sides, who take a huge step toward Final Four in Turin.
Turkish powerhouse Ziraat Bankkart Ankara claimed a 0–3 (21:25, 23:25, 20:25) commanding victory over Asseco Resovia Rzeszów in Poland, taking firm control of the match almost from start to finish, delivering a composed performance, scoring decisive points in each set to keep the upper hand throughout the match.
Trevor Clevenot and Nimir Abdel-Aziz led the charge with 11 points each, while Tomasz Fornal added 10.
For Resovia, Yacine Louati left the court as top scorer with 13 points, and Karol Butryn added 11.
Ziraat were more effective in attack and committed fewer errors, putting them in a strong position ahead of second leg, where only two sets are needed to claim their ticket for Final Four.
Meanwhile, also Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie from Poland took a major step toward F4 with a convincing 3–0 away win on the field of Cucine Lube Civitanova (22:25, 16:25, 29:31) in the first leg of their quarterfinal clash.
Playing in front of 2,813 fans at the Eurosuole Forum, they controlled much of the match, earning competitive opening set before comfortably taking the second one.
Civitanova showed a great resistance in a dramatic third set, pushing the visitors deep into extra points, but Plusliga winners held their nerve to completed the straight sets win.
Setter Miguel Tavares earned MVP honours for orchestrating a composed and efficient performance, while Aaaron Russell and Bartosz Kwolek top scorer Zawiercie with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Aleksandar Nikolov tallied 17 for the hosts.
The result leaves Zawiercie in a strong position ahead of the return leg on April 2 at their Arena Sosnowiec, where Civitanova must produce a significantly improved performance to stay in contention and to force an eventual Golden Set.
