After three seasons as the Marmara SpikeLigue, France’s men’s top volleyball league is entering a new era with a new identity.
For the next three seasons, the championship will officially be known as Alterna Volstar!
The Ligue Nationale de Volley (LNV) and Alterna énergie are pleased to announce the signing of a major partnership for the next three seasons.
As a result, France’s fourth-largest energy supplier becomes the title partner of the French men’s top volleyball league, which will now be known as Alterna Volstar.
This strategic partnership marks a new milestone in the development of professional volleyball in France.
Built on shared values, it reflects the common ambition of the LNV and Alterna énergie to support the continued growth of the professional league, enhance its appeal to fans and stakeholders, and contribute to the long-term development and visibility of the sport.
The launch of Alterna Volstar forms part of a broader transformation of the LNV ecosystem. The league’s new identity will be officially unveiled during the LNV’s first-ever Media Day on 29 September in Paris, featuring a new brand platform, refreshed visual identity, and redesigned brand guidelines.
Already the title partner of Stade Poitevin Volley-Ball, Alterna énergie is now extending its commitment to professional volleyball at the national level.
For the Poitiers-based company, this partnership is a natural step in its growth strategy, supporting the company’s next phase of development while strengthening its nationwide visibility through values shared with both the sport and the LNV.
As a signatory of the French Ministry of Sports’ Charter of 15 Eco-Responsible Commitments, the LNV promotes a more sustainable, inclusive, and equitable model of professional sport. These commitments closely align with Alterna énergie’s positioning as a supplier of locally produced renewable energy committed to the energy and climate transition.
The LNV was supported by its exclusive agency, Hopscotch Sport, in structuring this strategic partnership.
“First and foremost, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Marmara, which has supported the Ligue Nationale de Volley over the past three seasons. Its commitment has contributed significantly to the growth and visibility of our competitions, and we are deeply thankful for the trust it placed in us throughout this partnership.
Today, we are delighted to welcome Alterna énergie as the title partner of our championship. This partnership is built on a shared vision based on commitment, strong local roots, innovation, and a long-term dedication to supporting French sport. It reflects the growing attractiveness of our league and confirms the positive momentum currently driving professional volleyball in France. Together, we share the ambition of accelerating its development and writing a new chapter in its history,” said Jean Azéma, President of the Ligue Nationale de Volley
Antonin Marcault, Chief Executive Officer of Alterna énergie, added:
“Rooted in Poitiers and also present in Mulhouse and Paris, we know the impact volleyball has on communities and their supporters. With Alterna Volstar, we are bringing that conviction to the national stage by contributing to the development of the Ligue Nationale de Volley and its championship, alongside every club and every company that helps make it thrive.
Our objective is clear: to establish Alterna Volstar among the top three volleyball leagues in Europe. From clubs to the league, from local communities to the national stage, Alterna énergie is volleyball.”
With Alterna Volstar, Alterna is doing far more than simply attaching its name to a competition. As a genuine long-term partner, the company is committed to supporting the LNV’s development by attracting both national and local businesses that help sustain the league, its competitions, and its clubs, while continuing to strengthen the structure and competitiveness of France’s leading clubs so they can excel at the highest European level.
To achieve these objectives, numerous opportunities lie ahead: increasing the league’s visibility and brand awareness across all audiences, both in arenas and through broadcast and digital platforms; attracting and retaining new participants; and expanding the network of public and private partners. These are the priorities that the LNV and Alterna énergie are committed to pursuing together.
With over 20 years of expertise, Alterna énergie has established itself as one of France’s leading energy suppliers across every customer segment, serving large corporations, mid-sized companies, SMEs, small businesses, local authorities, and residential customers.
Created through the alliance of local energy companies, Alterna énergie has a clear mission: to support individuals and businesses in the energy and climate transition while building a more sustainable and locally driven future.
To deliver on this vision, the company has launched an ambitious strategy to double its customer portfolio by 2030 while becoming the first energy supplier capable of covering 100% of its customers’ monthly electricity consumption throughout the year using renewable energy.
This model is built on a unique short supply chain approach. By partnering with more than 1,000 renewable energy producers across wind, solar, hydropower, and biomethane, and through its customer service certified under the Service France Garanti label, Alterna énergie combines the strength of a national energy supplier with the proximity and responsiveness of a local provider.
