Italy: Civitanova down Verona in four sets and reopen Semifinals Series!

After losing Game 1 in straight sets on the field of No.2 in regular season Rana Verona, No.6 Cucine Lube Civitanova took their revenge celebrating a 3-1 (26:24, 25:21, 21:25, 25:22) great victory in front of their home fans at Eurosuole, leveling the best-of-five semifinal series 1-1.
Thus Series will continue also in a Game 4, also in Civitanova.
MVP honors to setter Mattia Boninfante, who sent 4 of his players in double digit: Aleksandar Nikolov led the charge once again with 18 points to his name through 46% in attack and 2 of the winners’ 13 winning blocks, followed by Mattia Bottolo, who added 12, Eric Loeppky with 11, and Giovanni Maria Gargiulo also in double digit with 10, including 4 winning blocks.
On the other side of the net, Verona paid 23 errors from the serve line, recording only 2 aces, with an once again decisive first set, this time closed by Civitanova with an error in attack from Noumory Keita. Second set dominated by the hosts, well supported by more than 3.000 excited volleyball fans, while Verona, led by Noumory Keita and Aleksandar Nedeljkovic, who recorded 5 points each in this partial, won third set reopening the game.
In decisive fourth set the hosts started strong, then suffered Verona’s comeback but, eventually, managed to win the game, with 6 blocks only in this set!
Now the series will move again to Verona on Saturday, April 11, while tomorrow Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza will welcome Sir Susa Scai Perugia to reopen the second semifinal series after losing in four sets Game 1 at PalaBarton.
Meanwhile, in Playoffs for 5th Place, Vero Volley Monza and Allianz Milano claimed their tickets for Semifinals.
