Controversy in France: Henno to Paris – correct or not?

2 min read

At least ten clubs in the French men’s volleyball Marmara Spike League have questioned the signing of the national team’s outside hitter Mathis Henno from Paris for the playoff contention.

The team from country’s capital claimed the injury of one of their players, Tom Koops, to justify the late signing, but managers of opposing teams have gone on to question the legality of the move, including even requests to verify the injured athlete’s actual condition.

In quarterfinals, a banner and provocations appeared among defending champions Tours’ supporters, like the one who asks “Mathis?” Joker of what?“, referring to the possible use of a regulation gap.

Henno has been repeatedly booed away from home, reflecting rivals’ dissatisfaction with the case.

In court, however, he remains decisive, earning two MVP honors in last three games, including in the decisive one in which they eliminated regular season Tours in quarterfinals after just two games.
Paris, who finished the regular stage in 10th, eliminated Plessis-Robinson (7th) and subsequently surprised by eliminating Tours with two wins.

First game: 3-2 with 26 points from Henno (58% in attack)
In the second: 3-0 away from home, with another solid performance (19 points, 63%).

Between protests in the stands and impact in the court, the question lingers on: legitimate reinforcement or irregular advantage?
