Italy: Modena and Trento take the lead in semifinals for 5th place in their series with Milano and Monza

2 min read

In 2025/26 Superlega CredemBanca Playoffs for 5th Place, Valsa Group Modena and Itas Trentino started semifinals best-of-three series in a perfect way celebrating home wins against Allianz Milano and Vero Volley Monza, respectively.
The first one prevailed by 3-1 (25:23, 38:36, 22:25, 25:22) despite 30 points from an almost unstoppable Ferre Reggers, but with a great team performance led by setter Amir Tizi-Oualou, who sent five of his players in double digit. Paul Buchegger, top scorer for Modena with 18 points to his name, Luca Porro who added 15, closely followed by Vlad Davyskiba, who also contributed with 14, Giovanni Sanguinetti with 12 and Pardo Mati with 10.
All easy, on the other hand, for Itas Trentino, who back to the court after 32 days stop, who literally destroyed Monza with a clean 3-0 (25:20, 25:17, 25:17), their 14th straight sets success this season.
Last official game played, in fact, was on March 4, on the field of PGE Projekt Warszawa!
Interestingly, this was Trento’s 7th win a row in straight sets against Monza, who never won a single set after Game 5 of Semifinals 2024, won in Trento on April 14, 2024 at tie break!
After that game, only straight sets win for Trento, on September 21, 2024, in Florence, November 24, 2024 in Trento, February 15, 2025 in Monza, November 16, 2025 in Trento, December 26, 2025 in Monza, December 29 and, now, also April 19 in Trento.
Théo Faure earned MVP honors thanks to 16 points to his name through 54% in attack and 1 block, his 9th awards of the season!
On Saturday, April 25, they’ll play on the field of Monza for Game 2, while Milano will welcome Modena on Sunday.
