Italy: Modena take first step toward 5th Place – Trento defeated in straight sets on the road!

Valsa Group Modena sweep Itas Trentino on the road after 78 minutes of play in Game 1 of best-of-three final for 5th Place.
At Trento’s BTS Arena di Trento, without Alessandro Michieletto and Theo Faure, but also penalized by another absence, Jordi Ramon due an abdominal strain, the hosts collapsed with the score of 0-3 (26:28, 17:25, 21:25), despite a hard-fought first set, recoveting from a 12-16 to 23-23 before surrendering at Modena’s 4th set point. Gabi Garcia was the last to give up scoring 14 points including 4 2 aces and 60% in attack, but he wasn’t enough against a good performance of the rivals from the serve’s line (10 aces) and in attack (61% team efficiency), led by Paul Buchegger, top scorer and MVP of the match with 19 points to his mame and an impressive 70% in attack (14/20 and only two errors). Vlad Davyskiba added 16 through 61% in attack, and Luca Porro 12 through 62%.
