Italy: Modena close 2025/26 season at 5th Place with a double win against a decimated Trento – all italians in Europe

After a clean win in Game 1 on the field of the rivals, Valsa Group Modena celebrated a 3-1 (25:21, 23:25, 25:21, 25:13) win in front of their home fans against a decimated Itas Trentino, penalized by injuries, to close best-of-three series of 2025/26 Superlega CredemBanca Playoffs for 5th Place with the score of 2-0.
The game started with balance, with the hosts able to capitalize in key moments above all in blocking and counterattack, closing first set with Luca Porro (top scorer with 20 points at the end of the match) and Vlad Davyskiba (who recorded 17 points) 25-21. Despite a reaction of Trento in second set, led by Gabi Garcia and the consequent 1-1, Modena regrouped and the injury of Alessandro Bristot only complicated matters further for Trento, who succumbed in third set, until a one-sided fourth set ended with a clean 25-13.
Thus Modena will compete in 2026/27 in CEV Challenge Cup.
Other italians in Europe are Sir Susa Scai Perugia, Cucine Lube
Civitanova and Rana Verona in Champions League, and Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza in CEV Cup.
