In the eighth VolleyBar episode, we begin talking about Allianz Milano.
After introducing head coach Guillermo Falasca and star middle blocker Robertlandy Simon, the SuperLega club announced Santiago Orduna as new setter, in what will be his 19th season in Italy!
Born in Buenos Aires on August 31, 1983, he started his career in Argentina before moving to Spain and then to Italy, where he became one of the most respected setters in the SuperLega. Throughout his long career, he has worn the jerseys of clubs including Padova, Modena, Ravenna, Monza, Vibo Valentia, Acicastello, and Lube Civitanova, winning both domestic and international trophies. During the last two seasons with Lube, he added an Italian Cup and two league finals appearances to his rĂŠsumĂŠ, once again proving himself to be a leader both on and off the court.
Meanwhile, Perugia said goodbye to middle blocker Roberto Russo (with Modena as his possible next destination?).
And speaking of Modena, the club yesterday announced Lorenzo Tubertini as new head coach following a season in France with Narbonne, while also confirming libero Luke Perry.
In Serie A2, finalists ABBA Pineto Volley bid farewell to and thanked head coach Rosario Angeloni and players Giancarlo Pesare, Ernesto Rascato, Andrea Castagneri, and Tommaso Larizza.
In France, Poitiers thanked its record-breaking fanbase, boasting more than 42,000 volleyball fans across the 42 home matches played last season, and more official announcements also came from Tourcoing, which unveiled their eighth signing: Tunisian middle blocker Mahdi Ben Tahar, who spent last season with Beroe 2026 in Bulgaria.
In Poland, after one season, Cuprum Stilon GorzĂłw said goodbye to middle blocker Krzysztof Rejno, while setter Jan Firlej stays in Plusliga’s Bronze Medalist PGE Projekt Warszawa also in 2026/27, after his arrival in the team of country’s capital in 2022/23!
In first friendly match of the season, France National Team suffered a 2-3 defeat (18:25, 24:26, 25:19, 19:25, 16:14) against Belgium, with Ferre Reggers, new opposite of Italians powerhouse Perugia, top scorer of the match scoring 22 points for the winners (55% in attack with 2 blocks and 2 aces), well supported by new player of Milano Basil Dermaux, who also contributed with 19 (60% in attack and 1 block). Noa Duflos-Rossi and Mathis Henno top-scored France with 12 points each, while Henri Leon added 11. Double digit also for Thomas Pujol, with 10 points.
