After our weekend break, we are already at the sixteenth episode (and the third week) of Volleybar. As we continue this project with renewed enthusiasm, we would like to thank you for the support and appreciation you have shown us. We were, in fact, the VERY FIRST news organization to come up with the idea of a daily column bringing together the most important volleyball news of the day in one place (we wrote the same words in the very first episode three weeks ago — remember?).
For that reason, we believe that, at least in this case, we are one step ahead of “the others”, especially those who take stories and news from our website and translate them into Italian word for word.

Putting plagiarism and “copy-paste-translate journalism” aside, the first week of 2026 CEV Volleyball European League has come to an end, with The Netherlands, Estonia, Latvia, Spain, Czech Republic, Denmark, Israel and Finland all remain unbeaten with two wins from two matches. Daily recaps are available on our website, as well as all three photo galleries from Osijek, Croatia — which, fortunately, our “colleagues” cannot simply republish elsewhere through a rough translation.
You can find the complete and updated schedule here, and simply click on each match to access the corresponding article and, when available, the photo galleries too.

Over the weekend, we also published the complete 2026 Volleyball Nations League schedule, which you can find here.

Now, let’s talk about club volleyball.

French national team setter Benjamin Toniutti is leaving Polish club Jastrzębski Węgiel, where he had played since 2021, to join Turkish side Ziraat Bankası Ankara. Interestingly, he spent a remarkable 11 seasons in Poland, including six with Kędzierzyn-Koźle and five with Jastrzębski!

Still in Poland, another major story from the weekend was the signing of Moritz Reichert, Ignacio Luengas and Marcel Hendzelewski by PlusLiga club Ślepsk Malow Suwałki.

After announcing the arrival of Nik Mujanović, Italian club Modena Volley also officially signed middle blocker Roberto Russo, who won everything there is to win with Perugia.
Meanwhile, over the weekend, Cisterna Volley found its new opposite hitter: Colombian standout Miguel Angel Martinez, the top scorer in the Spanish league with Benidorm.
After officially announcing the contract extensions of middle blocker Daniele Mazzone and outside hitter Filippo Lanza, as well as the arrivals of middle blocker Shikun Peng and libero Filippo Federici, the SuperLega club confirmed the signing of a highly promising young talent. Nicknamed “Amaranto”, Martinez finished as the top scorer in the Spanish league during the 2025/26 season with 537 points, recording a 51% attack success rate while also contributing 23 aces and 36 blocks.
There is also a new face at Itas Trentino, which signed young outside hitter Federico Roberti from Serie A2 side Fano, marking his SuperLega debut. Meanwhile, Sonepar Padova secured the future of promising outside hitter Mattia Orioli despite interest from Modena and several other clubs.
In Cuneo, veteran setter Michele Baranowicz has been confirmed, while young setter Bryan Argilagos, who spent last season with Perugia, is expected to arrive soon.

In France, setter Matthieu Garcia is leaving relegated Ajaccio and will play for Toulouse next season, while Brazilian middle blocker Renan Michelucci is set to become a new Saint-Nazaire player after an excellent season in Greece with Foinikas Syros VC.
Meanwhile, after libero Nathan Cudeville and setter Pépin Rajoharivelo, Coupe de France 2025/26 finalist Nice Volley Ball confirmed also outside hitter Colin Castelnau after losing one of their protagonists of last season Shay Liberman (already announced by Chaumont), Dawid Dulski (who probably will return to his homeland Poland), middle blocker Merrick McHenry (Piacenza, Italy), and libero Mason Briggs (Saint Nazaire?).

In Germany, coach Constant Tchouassi, who briefly appeared in Cannes at the beginning of the 2025–26 season, has landed in the Bundesliga, joining Netzhoppers for the 2026–27 campaign.

In Greece, after already anticipated weeks ago in our list of official world transfers 2026/27, Olympiacos announces the German international Erik Röhrs after two seasons with Vero Volley Monza.

In Russia, Mattia Boninfante, after two seasons as the starting setter of Cucine Lube Civitanova following his move from Modena, has officially become a player of Zenit Saint Petersburg.
