Sam Deroo receives heartwarming new after his greatest victory: cancer battle

Belgian national volleyball captain Sam Deroo has made an incredible recovery after undergoing cancer treatment and chemotherapy.
Following surgery and a period of recovery, the outside hitter has returned to the court and is competing on the roster for Team Belgium in the 2026 Volleyball Nations League (VNL).
The past few months have been life-changing for Belgian volleyball star. After successfully overcoming cancer and returning to the court, Sam Deroo now celebrating the arrival of his daughter, Mia.
The player himself and his partner, former Bulgarian national team member Dobriana Rabadzhieva, shared the joyful news on social media, revealing that their daughter was born on June 5.
In late 2025, Deroo announced that he had been diagnosed with testicular cancer, forcing him to put his volleyball career on hold while undergoing treatment. He later completed his recovery and made an inspiring return to professional volleyball.
