Despite both of us being busy with the Nations League in Ljubljana, we welcome you to the latest weekly episode of VolleyBar, the primary source of news for our Italian friends who, besides copying our idea, enjoy translating our articles word for word without citing the original source.

And the good news today is that our idea (yes, we were the very first to ever gather all the main daily volleyball news in one place, and we are proud of it!) has reached its first major milestone: this is already the 30th publication!

Unfortunately, today’s news is not good, as yesterday Argentine coach Daniel Castellani passed away at the age of 65 after a cancer battle, while Venezuelan national team captain Willner Rivas is missing along with his family following the terrible earthquake that struck the country.

Setting aside the news and bad updates, in Poland, Junior Polish Champion and one of the most promising young liberos of his generation Oskar Hakert joins Norwid Częstochowa!

I am very happy to be able to join the team. I am ready for hard work and to fight for the best results together with the squad. I can’t wait for the shared emotions on the court with the guys,” he says in the club’s official statement.

The new libero also emphasizes how important the years spent in Norwid’s youth teams were for his development.

The path I followed in Norwid’s youth teams, and achievements such as the Polish Junior Championship and the team’s promotion to the II Liga, had a huge impact on my sporting and personal development. These are experiences that taught me perseverance, responsibility, and teamwork,” he added.

In Italy, Itas Trentino has officially signed Serbian middle blocker Aleksandar Nedeljković, who played last season with Rana Verona.
In Trento, he will play his fourth consecutive season in the SuperLega Credem Banca, after previous spells at Cisterna and Verona, with only a short stint in Greece at Olympiacos between September and October 2025. In 84 matches played in Italy, he has scored 544 points, including 31 aces and 174 winning blocks, with a 58% attack efficiency.

Nedeljković already knows the Italian league well, having played there over the last three seasons, and this great experience will be very important for our team,” said Itas Trentino coach Marcelo MĂŠndez in the club’s official statement.

He is a middle blocker particularly strong in blocking, thanks also to a career that has consistently seen him involved at international level with Serbia. He completes a very strong and competitive group of middle blockers, with players who have been starters in important matches in recent seasons.”

He will wear jersey number 29, as he already did in Cisterna, Verona, and with the Serbian national team, with whom he is currently having an excellent Nations League campaign (35 points in the first six matches), and with whom he will play the European Championships in September before arriving in Trento.

About Italy and middle blockers, after one season with the club, Belgian international Wout D’Heer bids farewell to Cucine Lube Civitanova.

“I would like to say goodbye with a heartfelt thank you to everyone. In particular, I am grateful to Lube Volley for giving me the opportunity to wear the colors of such an outstanding club. Unfortunately, I was not always able to perform at the level I know I can reach, and my season was marked by ups and downs. However, both my teammates and I fought until the very end and earned our place in the Italian Championship Final, even though we are disappointed not to have won the title. I also want to send my warmest regards to the fans and to this wonderful city. My partner and I truly felt at home here,” he said in the club’s official press release.

In France, Nice has officially signed Slovenian setter Nejc Najdič, currently involved in the Nations League here in Ljubljana!

Speaking of good news (and today we need some), Sada Cruzeiro is celebrating the birthday of a true legend of Brazilian (and we’d add, world) volleyball: opposite hitter Wallace.
We also join in sending our birthday wishes!

⸝

And now it’s time to say goodbye. VolleyBar will return as usual on Monday at 8:00 PM!
A minute of silence for our Italian friends who will miss their primary news source to publish in the morning as a “press review” or other section with a very rough English translation!
Who knows, maybe they’ll also be busy with the semifinals of the European GOLDEN League (we’re waiting for yet another word-for-word Italian translation of our articles.
Cheers, legends!).
