The ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle roster for the 2026/2027 season continues to take shape. The team coached by Andrea Giani has added a new middle blocker – Fabian Plak.
The Dutch international is a player well known on the international stage, with valuable experience gained in some of Europe’s strongest leagues. Throughout his career, he has played for clubs in Italy and France, consistently competing at the highest level. In recent seasons, our new middle blocker represented Italian SuperLega sides Pallavolo Padova and Cisterna Volley. Joining ZAKSA marks a new chapter in his career and his first experience in the Polish PlusLiga, following in the footsteps of his national teammates, who spent several successful seasons in Kędzierzyn-Koźle.
Plak’s greatest strengths are his effective blocking and dynamic attacking. His signing is another important step in building a team that will compete for the highest possible finish in both the PlusLiga and the Polish Cup during the upcoming season.
“It is a great honour for me to join ZAKSA. The club has an incredible history, and I would love to become part of it. It is one of the most professional organisations in the PlusLiga, and I’m really excited to experience that firsthand.
Andrea Giani is a role model for many volleyball players. He was an outstanding player and is now an excellent coach as well as a genuinely kind person. When the opportunity to join ZAKSA came up, I didn’t have to think twice.
My national team teammates, Nimir (Abdel-Aziz) and Twan (Wiltenburg), have always spoken very highly of their time in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, and I want to experience the same. I believe we have the potential for a great season. There is a lot of talent in this team, and we’ll see what we can achieve together,” he said in the club’s official press release.
About ZAKSA, the club have continued to rebuild their squad ahead of the 2026/27 PlusLiga season, with head coach Andrea Giani overseeing a new-look roster following a busy summer transfer window.
The Polish club has already confirmed several additions as it looks to return to the top of domestic competition. The first signing announced was opposite hitter Remigiusz Kapica, who joined the club after establishing himself as one of the promising Polish attackers in the PlusLiga.
They have also strengthened the middle-blocker position with the signing of Marcin Kania, adding further depth and competition in the centre of the net.
On the departures side, ZAKSA confirmed that opposite hitter Kamil Rychlicki will leave the club after just one season. His exit is part of a broader squad overhaul, with the club opting for significant changes ahead of the new campaign.
Despite the changes on the court, there is continuity on the bench. Andrea Giani remains in charge for the 2026/27 season, togethet with the club support staff.
While the full roster has yet to be finalized, the club’s transfer activity suggests that further announcements are expected in the coming weeks as preparations for the new season continue.
