The Turkish Efeler Ligi is about to welcome a piece of volleyball history.
Chinese international opposite Zihua Wen will join Gaziantep for the 2026/27 season, becoming the first Chinese player ever to compete in Türkiye’s top men’s volleyball division!

The 26-year-old opposite, standing at 2.03m, has spent his entire professional career in China, representing Hebei Baoding since 2022.
Over the past few seasons, he has established himself as one of the prominent offensive players in the Chinese league, earning a reputation as a powerful scorer and a consistent presence at the highest level of domestic competition.
His latest campaign was particularly impressive. Hebei Baoding reached the Chinese league final, with Zihua Wen producing one of his strongest performances when it mattered most. In the decisive match against Tianjin, the opposite delivered 25 points, underlining his importance to the team throughout the season.
His individual performances were rewarded with a remarkable collection of honours, as he was named Best Opposite, Best Scorer and Most Valuable Player of the Chinese league, confirming his status as one of the competition’s leading stars.

And now, after several seasons at home, he is ready to take the biggest step of his career.
His move to Gaziantep will not only give the Chinese international his first experience of European club volleyball, but will also open a new chapter for Chinese players on the international club scene. For the Efeler Ligi, meanwhile, his arrival adds a new dimension to an increasingly international competition.
He will now have the opportunity to test himself against some of Europe’s most established players and experience a different style of volleyball, while Gaziantep will hope that one of the Chinese league’s standout performers can make an immediate impact in Türkiye.
For him, it is more than a transfer, as It is a first step beyond the borders of Chinese volleyball — and a historic one at that.
