Perugia confirmed for 2026 Club World Championship as Poland prepares for a global volleyball showcase

The 2026 FIVB Men’s Club World Championship is beginning to take shape, and one of the biggest names in world volleyball has now officially joined the field.

Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia will compete in the 2026 edition of the tournament in Poland, arriving as the reigning world champions after lifting the trophy at last year’s competition in Brazil.
The Italian powerhouse becomes the second confirmed participant, following Polish hosts Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie.
Perugia’s confirmation immediately raises the level of an already ambitious edition.
One of the dominant forces in European club volleyball, the Italian side is also a CEV Champions League winner and will now have the opportunity to defend its world crown on European soil.
The team’s connection with Poland adds another layer of interest, as Perugia’s roster includes Polish international Kamil Semeniuk, whose presence is certain to make the reigning world champions an even more attractive team for the local fans.

The tournament itself is also undergoing a significant geographical shift. According to our verified sources in Poland, Volleyball World approached the management of Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie with a proposal to host the event after the previous agreement with Brazil expired. The Polish club and Volleyball World subsequently reached a two-year agreement, meaning Poland is set to host the Men’s Club World Championship not only in 2026, but also in 2027.
Hosting a global event of this scale, however, comes with a significant financial commitment.
Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie was reportedly required to pay a hosting fee. The official amount remains a commercial secret, but Polish media reports have placed the figure at approximately €500,000. The expectation is that strong attendance, combined with substantial support from sponsors, will allow the organisers to recover the investment.

The organisers have also opted for a multi-city format designed to bring the world’s best clubs to different parts of Poland.
The group stage will be played in Katowice and Sosnowiec, while the semi-finals and medal matches will take place in Częstochowa, whose larger venue has been selected to accommodate the decisive encounters.
The idea behind the hosting model is not simply to stage the tournament, but to use it as an opportunity to promote world-class club volleyball across a wider part of Poland.

Beyond the two confirmed teams, the provisional field already points towards a truly global tournament.
Brazil is expected to be represented by Sada Cruzeiro and Renata Vôlei, while Indonesia’s Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi, Iran’s Foolad Sirjan and Egypt’s Al Ahly Cairo have also been named among the expected participants.
The final place is reportedly most likely to go to Ziraat Bank Ankara, with the Turkish club having finished third in the most recent edition of the CEV Champions League.

If the remaining places are ultimately confirmed as expected, the 2026 Club World Championship will bring together clubs from Europe, South America, Asia and Africa, underlining the increasingly global nature of the competition.
The European contingent already looks particularly strong, with Perugia and Zawiercie confirmed and Ziraat Bank Ankara potentially joining them. Sada Cruzeiro, meanwhile, will once again be among the clubs carrying the expectations of South American volleyball, having traditionally been one of the leading contenders for the world title.
There is also an intriguing detail surrounding the host nation. Despite Poland staging the tournament, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie is expected to be the country’s only representative in the competition.

With the reigning champions already confirmed and several continental heavyweights waiting in the wings, the road to the 2026 Club World Championship is officially gathering pace.
