Poland: Kraków gets ready for another Polish Cup weekend

The Polish Cup will once again have Kraków as its stage.
On 23 and 24 January 2027, the four teams still alive in the competition will gather at the TAURON Arena for the final weekend of the TAURON Polish Cup, continuing a tradition that has turned one of Poland’s biggest indoor arenas into the centre of the country’s club volleyball scene every winter.

For Bogdanka LUK Lublin, the return to Kraków will have a special meaning.
The team lifted the trophy for the first time in its history in January 2026, beating Asseco Resovia Rzeszów 3-0 in the final in front of 12,852 spectators. It was another milestone in the rapid rise of the Lublin club, which had only made its PlusLiga debut five years earlier.
The club’s ambitions will therefore be clear: return to Kraków and try to lift the trophy again.

For Kraków, meanwhile, hosting the Polish Cup final tournament has become almost an annual appointment.
The 2027 edition will be the sixth time the city has welcomed the final four and the fifth consecutive edition to be staged at TAURON Arena.
The numbers explain why the Polish Volleyball League continues to bring the event back to the same venue.
In 2025, TAURON Arena set an attendance record for Polish club volleyball, with more than 14,000 spectators watching the decisive weekend. A year later, despite difficult winter conditions affecting travel, the final between Lublin and Resovia still attracted 12,852 fans.
The atmosphere has become part of the event itself. Supporters travel from different parts of Poland to turn the final weekend into much more than two volleyball matches, with large groups following their clubs to Kraków and filling one of Europe’s major indoor arenas.

For the Polish Volleyball League, that combination of sporting importance and spectacular crowds is precisely what makes TAURON Arena such a natural home for the competition. The Polish Cup is one of the three major domestic trophies available to PlusLiga clubs during the season, alongside the league championship and the Super Cup.
The 2027 final tournament is therefore already on the calendar, even though its four participants remain unknown.

The quarterfinals at the end of 2026 will decide which teams earn the right to travel to Kraków. Once they arrive at TAURON Arena in January, however, there will be no more room for calculations: two semi-finals, one final and one trophy will decide the next chapter of the Polish Cup.
And waiting for them will be the team that wrote the first chapter of its own Polish Cup history in this very arena just a year earlier.
