The Royal Spanish Volleyball Federation (RFEVB) has announced the end of its collaboration with Hubert Henno, bringing the French coach’s two-season tenure at the helm of the men’s national team to a close.

Appointed in April 2025 as the successor to José Luis Moltó, Henno took charge of the Red Lynxes with two major objectives: the European Golden League and the qualification campaign for EuroVolley 2026. However, he inherited a difficult situation in the continental qualifiers, with Spain having already suffered opening defeats against Switzerland and Sweden. The team ultimately failed to secure a place at the European Championship.
Henno’s two seasons also brought contrasting results in the European League. Spain finished fifth in 2025 before dropping to tenth place in the 2026 edition. The team also competed at the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy, where it ended the tournament in fifth position after recording victories against Egypt and Kosovo.

The RFEVB confirmed the decision in a statement published on October 30, thanking Henno for his professionalism, work and commitment throughout his time with the national team, while wishing him success in his future professional projects. No specific reason for the separation was provided, and the federation has yet to announce a successor.

Henno leaves Spain after a career that combines considerable experience both on the court and on the sidelines. A former French international with 254 caps, he won two Champions League titles and a CEV Cup as a player. After retiring in 2019, he moved into coaching, taking charge of Tours VB before leading Nantes Rezé Métropole Volley to the French Cup title in 2024.
