Round 10 of 2023/24 Marmara Spike League has been played today with all its seven scheduled games.
Taking advantage from Nantes’ defeat, losing on the field of Tourcoing at tie break (25:22, 25:19, 17:25, 21:25, 15:11) suffering the rivals’ block (13 to 8) and the blow of Pablo Koukartsev (top scorer with 33 points, 5 winning blocks and 51% in attack), to celebrate at the end of the day is Chaumont, who easily defeat Paris 3-0 (25:21, 25:17, 25:20) to fly
to the top of the standings at +1
from the rivals.
Top scorer Victor Cardoso (16 points with 1 block and 61% in attack) and a great Patrick Indra (15 points with 1 ace and 1 block through 76% in attack were decisive in today’s success.
3 points also for third-placed Montpellier, who won on the field of Toulouse with the score of 1-3 (24:26, 23:25, 25:23, 26:28) after 2 hours and 3 minutes of play!
The winners literally blocked Touluse, scoring as many as 15 points from this element (only
4 for the hosts), 6 from Nicolas Le Goff, who played an excellent game also with 70% in attack (7/10), together with Dimitar Dimitrov and Moritz Reichert, who also contributed with 19 and 17 points, respectively.
Another win for titleholders Tours after a weak start in the competition, who won in straight sets on the field of Plessis Robinson – 0-3 (19:25, 16:25, 23:25), with 12 winning blocks and 16 points from Märt Tammearu (62% in attack). A result that is worth the eighth place in the standings, with the same number of points, 13, of Plessis-Robinson themselves (currently at 9th).
Still winless and with only one point in the standings after 10 games played Narbonne, who suffered a home defeat against Sète, 1-3 (21:25, 25:20, 15:25, 20:25).
Staying around the last positions in the current charts, Nice won the direct clash for 12th place by beating at tie break newcomers Saint-Jean d’Illac away with the score of 2-3 (25:21, 24:26, 23:25, 25:23, 12:15) after 2 hours and 28 minutes of play. To make the difference 14 winning blocks (5 from Valerii Todua, author of a great game with 17 points including 4 aces and 73% in attack) and a convincing performance of German opposite Simon Hirsch, absolute top scorer of the game with 33 points to his name, 3 aces, 3 blocks and 54% in attack.
Tie break win also for Poitiers, who defeated Saint Nazaire 3-2 (17:25, 25:23, 20:25, 25:15, 15:9) with 5 players in double digit: Mathias Elser, top scorer with 19 points including 2 aces, 2 blocks and 56% in attack, followed by Metin Toy and Alexandros Raptis with 15 each, Jackson Howe with 14 (with 4 winning blocks and 77% in attack), and 10 from Javier Concepcion.
Jordan Ewert and Kyle Ensing scored 25 and 24 points respectively on the losing side, but they weren’t enough.
